The MSGEQ7 Seven Band Graphic Equalizer is capable of dividing the audio spectrum into seven bands: 63 Hz, 160 Hz, 400 Hz, 1 kHz, 2.5 kHz, 6.25 kHz, and 16 kHz. The frequencies are multiplexed to the output in order to provide a DC representation of each bands amplitude.
No external components are required to select the filter responses. An off-chip resistor and a capacitor are more than capable of choosing the on-chip clock oscillator frequency.
The chip supply is between 2.7 V and 5.5 V with 5 V providing the best performance. The MSGEQ7 has less than 1 mA quiescent current typically. The multiplexer permits readouts with only two pins. The multiplexer readout rate also controls the decay time.
