Programmed ATmega328-P-PU microcontroller EPS # 140107-41 for the project Platino Solder Station, published in Elektor Magazine edition July & August 2015.
This project is an SMD soldering station add-on board for the Platino universal AVR microcontroller board. It supports active soldering tips from the Weller RT series which contain the heating element as well as a temperature sensor. The tip is equipped with a standard 3.5 mm jack. The result is a compact SMD soldering iron with a very fast heat up times of only a few seconds. The add-on board contains a low-noise amplifier that measures the temperature via the ADC of the AVR and a power MOSFET stage to control the tip temperature using PWM. A rotary encoder allows adjusting the temperature and an LCD shows the set and measured values. The soldering tip can be set to any temperature in the range from 90 – 450 degrees Celsius.
