After the overwhelming success of their Trilogy of Inductors—which has already sold about 20,000 copies—Würth Electronics now brings a further applications handbook on the market. The first edition of this monograph is divided into three main chapters: Basic Principles, Design/Selection/Assembly, and Level of Interconnection. An Appendix and a specialist and keyword Glossary complete the body of work.
The first chapter basically describes the complex parameters along with their correct interaction, enabling two subsystems to be combined into one electronic unit without compromising its performance.
The second chapter provides an overview of the design and material requirements of contact surface, springs and the plug body, whilst also explaining the main causes of loss-of-quality.
The final chapter is devoted to the location the connector is put to use within an electronic system. The position of the connector within the system affects both the environmental footprint as well as the durability of the junction the connector is required to uphold. Outlined are wire-to-wire as well as board-to-board connectors along with the applications of the connector, divided into power and signal carrying lines.
