This book has been a lot of fun as a beginner. Instead of leading with the basics of digital design, it jumps straight into CMOS transistor theory. And since I’m new to FPGAs, it wasn’t on my radar to learn MOSFETS yet but I’m glad thats where he chose to start. I’ve reread this chapter several times now and I pick up something new each time. I enjoy learning about what’s going on underneath the hood and Kevin goes into great detail. That’s something I appreciate about his writing style. And, at the end of every chapter there’s a quiz, which I’ll admit is a big deal to me because I’m not interested in reading this book passively. I want to KNOW this material. So by baking in the quizzes, it’s clear that Kevin has written this book for me and anyone else who is after mastery. Plus there are block diagrams, numerous examples of HDL, and screenshots of waveforms throughout all 330 pages. Mastering FPGA Chip Design is the sandbox for FPGAs. I’m glad I bought a copy. I’m certain you will be too.
